Luxembourg

Today we took the train into Luxembourg City. After a much too hot, hour-long tour in a bright green bus, similar in shape to Thomas the Tank Engine, which moved at approx 2mph (I kid you not, walkers were passing us up), we did some exploring around the city for two hours. Luxembourg is basically a more industrial and touristy version of Trier. Everyone was told to go off and have lunch, so my friends and I went and had authentic Turkish food: Dönau-(rotisserie meat) and falafel-(fried chickpea spheres) both served with vegetables and Tahiti sauce in a pita pocket. I opted for the falafel because I'm never a fan of unidentifiable meat. It was amazing. WAY better than your average Midwest Pita Inn, and that's saying a lot. Turkish food is very popular here because many Turks have made their way to Germany in search of a better life, and they bring their delicious food and top secret recipes with them. We also got some tea at a café (I had a vanilla chai latté and it was really, really good.) We walked around some more and went into a bunch of local shops. When our time was up, we meet our chaperones in the square and walked to the Casemates (old cavernous structure largely underground and made entirely of stone) and explored there for about two hours. It was really big. Then we walked back to the train and an hour and a half later we were back in Trier for the welcome cookout dinner with all the parents and exchange students. That's about it!
